Chanukka –feast of lights

..can be celebrated everywhere with Jesus in our heart, the light of the world und the father’s love.

Today the last day of the feast began (5.12.-12.12.07)What a grace, to be able to pass on the fathers love in conversation, counseling, helping, a smile: seeing you, stranger, makes me smile… and in the others face the sun rises.

Then I watch the natural sundown and the clouds part to let some of the light pass through forming a heart of light.

Over 2000 years ago it began with a miracle when the second temple was rededicated in Jerusalem. The special oil for the lampstand, only being enough for one day lasted for 8.

Tradition has it, that little Chanukkias are set in the window, candles lit for everyone to see.

This is also as we find it in the new testament:

And he said unto them, Is the lamp brought to be put under the bushel, or under the bed, and not to be put on the stand? Mk 4,21 (ASV)

One aspect of Chanukka especially touched me this year. Light and truth in Jesus against all reasoning, false logic and cold, loveless mind.

 

 

For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh

(for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but mighty before God to the casting down of strongholds),

casting down imaginations, and every high thing that is exalted against the knowledge of God, and bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ..

Yesterday, on the 24.12.07,  the Chanukka light entered into the heart of a loved one. A great stronghold came down- thank you Holy Spirit.

Idolatry towards human reason is broken so that the spirit of Christ can reign. This way love and reason can finally act together in a blessing way. Life can be sooo wonderful!

The cross stood on Golgatha, from the Greek word "Skull” for the shape of the hill Jesus was crucified on. In a way it means that our stubbornness must go under the cross! The neck must bow, doggedness must change into humility to not cause any further damage ant to honour God.

 

 

My son, forget not my law; But let thy heart keep my commandments:

For length of days, and years of life, And peace, will they add to thee.

Let not kindness and truth forsake thee: Bind them about thy neck; Write them upon the tablet of thy heart:

So shalt thou find favor and good understanding In the sight of God and man.

Trust in Jehovah with all thy heart, And lean not upon thine own understanding:

In all thy ways acknowledge him, And he will direct thy paths.

Be not wise in thine own eyes; Fear Jehovah, and depart from evil:

It will be health to thy navel, And marrow to thy bones.

t does not mean to shut down our thinking but we need tos et our priorities right. God sits on the throne not our reason.
